Nonpolitical Sites
ChessYou can meet me (WarthogsUNLTD), Dion (DLite), or Samantha (Ladybug) at FICS the Free Internet Chess Server. You will also meet many other chess opponents, co-analysts and kibitzers, not to mention intelligent conversationalists for all the chat you could hope for on any subject you care to name and a few you don't. ![]() Friends and Fellow TCH Customers"The aim of a picture is not to demonstrate any theory or fact, but is to excite a certain sensory pleasure." This quote could have been written expressly to describe Virtual Conceptions, an art site run by Randy Zucker, who is both a friend and a fellow customer of TotalChoice Hosting (for which you will find a web ring below). Her works are based on photographs of actual places and objects, which she then digitally reshapes into occasionally transfixing images of varying degrees of surreality. Her inspirations appear to include M.C. Escher (my favorite artist) and René Magritte, although her works, being based on photographs, are more naturalistic than those luminaries'. Visit Randy's Artist's Statement page, and you will see (in addition to the quote cited above) a series of images of the World Trade Center, before the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, that seem almost prescient in their imagery. I should mention that Randy is also a friend to the Alliance and its cause. Better, hers has been a clear, strong voice for fairness and common sense wherever I have encountered it.
